4D HIFU is a safe, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. The treatment uses the body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift skin on the eyebrow, under the chin and on the neck, lift and tighten skin on the body, and smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

4D HIFU is a non-invasive procedure with no downtime. It is a great treatment which achieves the results of a facelift or a body lifts without the need for invasive surgery or injections! You can see the result after one treatment immediately, it takes a longer time to see the best results, because it penetrates deep into the skin to stimulate natural production of collagen gradually.  This means that 4D or 11D HIFU results, though gradual, will look very natural. It uses high-intensity focused ultrasound energy to tighten and lift facial and body skin. It targets 3 different layers of the superficial and dermis along with SMAS (muscle layer). This is the same layer of the tissue that surgeons pull tight in a facelift.

4D HIFU works by directly delivering the ultrasound energy to the tissues. This then heats the tissues allowing it to contract resulting in tightening of the skin and formation of new collagen, which provides a long-term to permanent tightening effect. The energy also stimulates and renew the skin’s collagen which improves the texture and reduce the appearance sagging of the skin by increasing its collagen production.

The depth of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound is between 1.5 to 16 mm. This allows to target the deeper SMAS muscle layer – that no other skin tightening treatments can reach.

HIFU is a ‘slow burn’ procedure. After your 4D HIFU procedure, you see around 30% improvement initially (same day), and then it’s around 3-6 months (12-26 weeks) to see the full results (but they are so worth it when you do!) after your last procedure, as your body naturally regenerates collagen. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

Results can last a minimum of 12-36 months. How long results last depends on your own natural aging process. We have no control over the natural aging process. This procedure does not stop aging. You will continue to age. Lifestyle and consistency between procedures plays a factor as well.

Most clients only need 2-6 procedures. However this may be based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the individual’s collagen-building process, some clients may benefit from additional procedures. 4D or 11D HIFU uses sound energy, tried and true ultrasound, which has unique properties that allow it to bypass the surface of the skin to treat depths not matched by any other non-invasive cosmetic device. 4D HIFU stimulates collagen production in the skin’s foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over the following 3-6 months. Lasers rely on light energy, which cannot reach deeper skin layers at an optimal temperature, so laser treatments typically only treat superficial skin. Since the two technologies often treat different types of skin issues, they’re actually very compatible.

During the procedure the transducer delivers and deposits focused ultrasound energy deep beneath the skin at the optimal temperature for collagen regeneration. The treatment jumpstarts a natural process, known as neocollagenesis, to produce fresh, new collagen. The treatment itself doesn’t involve any creams, fillers or toxins, it just relies on your body’s own collagen-building process for natural, noticeable results.

The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment on its own takes approximately 30 minutes.

With a single 4D HIFU treatment there is no downtime. After your procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately, without having to follow any special post-treatment measures. We have even had clients come up to the clinic on their lunchbreak to have the treatment, no creams required and your general skin care plan and make-up can be applied as normal.

As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from minimal to moderate from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. We use a topical lidocaine to help alleviate discomfort.

A good 4D HIFU candidate has mild to moderate skin laxity where the skin begins to feel and look less firm. Examples include a lowered eyebrow line, loose skin on the neck, sagging under the chin, and lines or wrinkles on the chest. Of course, the best way to find out if you’re a suitable candidate is to consult with a practitioner. A good candidate for 4D or 11D HIFU is also a candidate who possesses patience and understanding that this procedure is not surgery, multiple procedures will be required to see desired results, and final results will take several weeks and months to obtain.

The skin might appear flushed at first, this can be during treatment but sometimes lasting longer, the redness should however disappear within a few hours. Some clients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. As with any cosmetic procedure, there is the possibility of other rare effects, which your practitioner will review with you.
